Name: Claire
Job title: Business owner
What exactly is that?
I run my own business from home, helping & coaching people to live the life they want
How did you get there?
I have attended training days/courses/online events as often as possible, to grow my knowledge. I am learning every day how to be the best I can be. You never stop learning & after traditional education is when the real learning starts. I didn’t know what I wanted to ‘do when I grew up’ so it has taken me until my mid 30’s to find my career.
Give us a picture of a typical day for you
Up with the kids at 6:30-7am, breakfast of cereal & toast usually for all of us then getting dressed. Quick check on messages/posts on fb. I have a pre-school child & toddler, so we get ready for the school day, make packed lunch if needed that day & head off to school. Then toddler & I might pop to the shops, head home for a bit of play then his nap time. During this time I will then contact my team members, skype or fuze meetings with team or potential team members, listen to some motivational speaking in the background. Update both business pages, follow up with customers & reply to any emails. Then lunchtime, playtime with toddler, collect daughter from preschool, more play, dinner bath & bed for the children by 7pm. Dinner with husband after this, then back onto the computer to catch up with team, run meetings, presentations & catch up with customers. Update business pages on facebook.
What’s the best thing about what you do?
Flexibility & time. I never have to ask anyone for time off to be there for my children or family members, ever. I work with who I want, when I want. My work is fun, I help people, it’s perfect for me!
What one thing would you change if you could?
I would have started sooner if I’d have known about it.
What did you want to do for a living when you were younger?
Didn’t know, I had no career path or ‘calling’
Tell us about one thing you were insecure about when you were younger and what you did about it if anything
I lacked massively in self confidence, I chose a job where I could do what I enjoyed which helped me to gain confidence.
What advice would you have given yourself at 18 if you could?
Don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t achieve something. You can achieve anything you set your mind to if you work for it.
What’s your favourite thing to do in your spare time?
Family time, days on the beach, film time, swimming!
What’s the title of the last book you read?
Attitude is Everything by Jeff Keller
