Pole fitness and Aerial Instructor

Name: Dave

Job Title: Business Owner

What exactly is that?

I teach people superhero powers and how to be confident. Basically, I teach pole fitness and aerial arts. Aka circus skills – pole, hoops, silks, trapeze and stretch.

How did you get there?

I started pole a few years back and was hooked, I then started aerial! I worked at a local pole school (now competitor) but unfortunately got sacked. So created GLD. I had no plan to make my own school but I had girls wanting me to. So I did.

Describe a typical day in your life

Get up – go to the gym (fasted most days – I personally can’t get up and eat straight away) go home. Shower. Do some boring admin work. Food prep, I’m vegetarian. Do some more work. Then go to the studio either train before classes if I have time. Then teach.

Usually have a dinner super late, shower and then bed. Takes me about 15-20 mins to get to the studio, I drive as its awkward to get too.

What’s the best thing about what you do?

Love watching people progress. I take pleasure in seeing people achieve the things they never thought was possible – determination and dedication. Anything is possible.

What’s the one thing you would change if you could?

Less stress.

What did you want to do for a living when you were at school?

Tattoo artist or fashion illustration. Fashion designer.

Tell us about one thing you were insecure about when you were at school

I can’t remember being insecure at school about anything particular. I didn’t like being centre of attention. But somehow always ended being so… same now. I love my job. But the idea of performing in front of people scare me.

What advice would you give yourself at 18 if you could?

Man up! Do what makes YOU happy. Not what your peers thinks best!

What’s your favourite thing to do in your spare time?

Eat! Loads of Wagamamas

What’s the title of the last book you read?

Don’t really read if I’m honest – only about conspiracy theories. Hahaha. And read a lot about injuries etc etc.
